Kevin Lisle (he/him)

Born and raised in Alabama in a conservative, racially charged environment, it was no surprise that at 21, I headed west. Arriving in San Francisco, I felt like Dorothy leaving Kansas.

My first true encounter with the leather community, beyond secret magazines hidden from my family, was walking down Castro Street. At the time, the area was vastly different, dotted with leather bars like Daddy’s and The Castro Station. Outside, tall men in full leather smoked and cruised passersby. Curious, I stepped inside and discovered a new world of leather-clad men, porn on the TVs, and personal exchanges that made me feel I had found my home.

In 2013, I became Imperial Crown Prince to Emperor Drew Cutler, a leather Emperor of the Imperial Court. Supporting him as his leather prince felt like fulfilling my dream of belonging to the leather community. By 2014, I faced growing pressure to run for Emperor. Though hesitant, I announced my candidacy at the Ducal Coronation with a bold proclamation: “I am coming.”

On February 15, 2015, in full leather, I was crowned the Red Dawg Golden Jubilee Emperor of San Francisco. It was a defining moment and one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Dandy Buckley (she/they)

A 50-year-old leather dyke originally from the UK, now a Bay Area lover, causing (consensual) malarkey in the leather community for over a decade. Daddy to one very special baby girl and betrothed. They are  also a Top, Dominant, and Sadist who knows how to have fun while keeping things deliciously disciplined.

Whether they are cracking their cricket bat or cracking jokes, you’ll find them volunteering at community events—because volunteering is definitely a kink. They served on the board of the Exiles, currently stir things up as an associate board member of the SF Leather and LGBTQ Cultural District, and is one of the founders of The House of Fire, a leather house that runs on volunteerism and good vibes.

With her baby girl, they also produce a regular play party called Red…away from the cis male gaze.

They are also a proud member of the Phoenix Family—because who doesn’t love a chosen family that’s as fabulous as they are fiery?
